chris-en-hils  > Travel > Tour de Mnt Blanc 2009
In continuation of previous treks, two smelly backpackers (Bobby and Chris) set out to the French Alps to drag their humongeously heavy backpacks along a part of the 'Tour the Mont Blanc'. The ruggedness of the mountains and beautiful scenery will surely make us go back in the future to finish the tour.

chris-en-hils > Our road trip begins with a 11 hour drive in Bobby's 'blauwe bolide' from our hometown of Rotterdam to the town of chamonix, near the French-Swiss border.
chris-en-hils > After surviving even the motorways of Belgium, we arrived in Les Houches, France just in time for the beers (extra heavy traditionally brewed of course) and a game of pool. Needless to say the beers hit the spot and we were glad we were even able to finish our last game. The next day we left luxury and headed into the mountains. A self portrait at the start when we were still fresh as fruit.
chris-en-hils > You dont have to hike for days to enjoy the view on the mountains but i can now say from experience; you wont experience the mountains this way.
chris-en-hils > The first day of the hike took us through forrests and across clacier descents and ended in the valley behind the hill in the right upper corner of the shot. In the background the Mnt Blanc around which the TMB circles.
chris-en-hils > Walking the trail and enjoying the view on the Mnt Blanc. I kept hitting my lens with my suncreemed arm so some of the shots have smudgy parts $#%#^ Oh well, me and my 'problems'.
chris-en-hils > Since it was pretty hot, we refreshed ourselves with some freezing clacier water.
chris-en-hils > Panorama of the 'Col de Tigot' with the path starting left and ending at the right.
chris-en-hils > For reasons unknown, Bobby had torn most of his (only warm) pants to shreds during the ascent, transforming it into a super airy one (especially in the crotch section). On the photo: Bobby 'airing' and getting ready for the descent while talking to a fellow hiker, planning on hiking to Nice.
chris-en-hils > After a grueling climb and descent (down the cloud covered path in the middle of the shot) we could pitch out tent on this wonderful patch where we were completely surrounded by the mountains. We were positively broken from the last descent and suddenly very aware of our dodgy physical condition. We had a fantastic dinner at the 'Refuge de Miage' and some thunder in the mountains in the night.
